The opening ceremony of the Asian Games 2023 was held at the Olympic Sports Center Stadium in Hangzhou. The Asian Games were inaugurated in Hangzhou, China on Saturday (23 September 2023). Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the official opening of the Games.
The official start of the Asian Games happened on 23rd September at 5:30 pm, the opening ceremony was held at the Olympic Sports Center Stadium in Hangzhou in which teams from all countries will participate. The spectator capacity of this stadium is 80000.

The opening ceremony began at 5:30 pm at the Olympic Sports Center Stadium in Hangzhou. By 6:30 pm, players from all countries marched with the flags of their respective countries.
The athletes from Afghanistan were the first in the players’ parade. When the Indian team arrived, the stadium echoed. The audience welcomed with loud applause. The flag bearers were Indian men’s hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh and boxer Lovlina Borgohain. Both of them led the Indian contingent in the parade. Many competitions had started even before the opening ceremony.
After this the colorful program started. Chinese artists integrated ancient Chinese traditions with modern progress through artificial intelligence. After the colorful program the Asian Games torch was lit. More than 2500 artists performed at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games. The 90-minute long program depicted China’s cultural heritage and romantic imagination through a blend of thousands of years of civilization and modern technology through stunning visuals, showcasing the dedicated efforts of the Chinese path to modernization.

India is hoping to give its best performance till date in the Asian Games which is going to start from 23rd September in Hangzhou, China. This time the slogan of 100 paar has been given. That means India is hoping to win more than a hundred medals. India had won 70 medals, including 16 gold, in the Asian Games held in Jakarta five years ago.
A total of 655 players are participating from India in the Asian Games 2023, which is the largest contingent of the country so far. A total of 40 events will include competition from Indian athletes. These games include more than 12000 players from 45 different nations. Of India’s 655 athletes, 332 are men and 323 are women. India’s athletics team consists of 68 players.

Before the inauguration ceremony, the matches of women’s team in cricket and football have started. In table tennis, Indian players too had a successful start. Table tennis men’s team registered an easy victory against Tajikistan and women’s team registered an easy victory against Nepal.

The Indian men’s table tennis team got off to a terrific start and easily defeated Tajikistan. Manav gave India the lead in the opening game by defeating his opponent with a score of 11-8, 11-5, and 11-8. Sultanov was then defeated by Manush Shah by scores of 13-11, 11-7, and 11-5. Harmeet Desai of India ultimately defeated Ismaila Joda in the third game by scores of 11-1, 11-3, and 11-5 to give Team India a straightforward victory in the first round. Team India has advanced to the round of 16 thanks to its victory.
The women’s team defeated Nepal.
The women’s table tennis team also had success, winning 3-0 against Nepal with relative ease. By winning their respective bouts, Diya Parag Chitale, Ayhika Mukherjee, and Sutirtha Mukherjee improved India’s situation. Sikka Shrestha was defeated by Diya Chitale by scores of 11-1, 11-6, and 11-8. Ahkiya Mukherjee defeated Nabita Shrestha by scores of 11-3, 11-7, and 11-2 in the second match. Sutirtha Mukherjee defeated Ivana Thapar by scores of 11-1, 11-5, and 11-2 in the third match to clinch India’s triumph.
