In honor
of Nazia Salim’s painting style and long-standing contribution to the art
world, Google created a doodle artwork in his honor today. 

Nazia Salim was one of Iraq’s most influential
artists.

Today
in this  Doodle Google has paid tribute to Naziha 
Salim by showing her picture on its search engine. Two pictures are
visible in the doodle of the search engine Google, in which Najiha Salim is
seen with a paintbrush on one side, while in the other picture a glimpse of her
painting is being seen.

Who is  Naziha Salim? 

Naziha Salim was born in 1927 in Istanbul,
Turkey. 
Naziha Salim was a painter who was influenced by
the rural civilization living in Iraq and conveyed the condition of Iraqi rural
women to the people through painting. 
Naziha
Salim started showing interest in painting at an early age.

At the
time Nazia was born, her father was an officer in the Ottoman Army. In 1920 his
family shifted to Baghdad. Nazia was very young at that time. 
You will
be surprised to know that the father
Haji Mohammad Salim, who himself was a
painter. Perhaps because of this Naziha Salim had so much love for painting. 

Apart from this, his mother was also very well versed in the art of Kadai. Her mother was also a painter as well as an
expert in embroidery work.

Naziha Salim had three more brothers. They
all used to work in the field of art. Accordingly, it can be said that the
entire family of Naziha Salim is the master of art. 

Naziha Salim was an Iraqi painter, educator, and one of Iraq’s most well-known contemporary artists. Her paintings depict rural Iraqi women and peasant life with powerful brushstrokes and brilliant colours.

Naziha Salim was a famous Iraqi painter and a professor. Naziha Salim in his painting told about the women of rural Iraq and their condition to the people through his painting. Naziha Salim has put the status and living conditions of rural women in front of the world through painting in her painting. 

She became a distinguished teacher of Iraq and then taught at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad until retirement. Salim was one of the founding members of al-Ruwad, a community of artists who study abroad and contribute art techniques to Iraqi aesthetics. 

In 2003, Nazia (Naziha Salim) had a heart attack. After which she started getting sick often. Nazia died on 15 February 2008 at the age of 81. With his death, it was a great loss to Iraqi art and culture.

Honor and Achievements of  Naziha Salim

Nazia
was the first woman to receive a scholarship for further studies in the field
of arts. In 1940 he completed his graduation from the Baghdad Fine Art Institute.
After that, after getting the scholarship, he did his further studies from
Paris. After this, Salim remained out of Iraq for a few years.

Nazia
published the book “Iraq: Contemporary Art”, which focuses on the
early development of Iraq’s modern art movement. Today his works are seen in
the Sharjah Art Museum and the Iraqi Archive of Modern Art.
