The upcoming event is officially known as the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022. Asian Games, usually referred to as Asiad, every four years. From September 23 to October 8, 2023, the 19th Asian Games will be hosted in Hangzhou, China. The opening ceremony is set to take place on September 23. Some events like football, volleyball and including cricket will start from September 19 itself. 655 athletes from India will stake their claim for the medal. Indian athletes are going to be seen in a total of 41 sports. The championship will include 40 sports and 61 categories  across 54 venues in Hangzhou and five co-host cities.

 

Asian Games 2023 Opening ceremony

Hangzhou Asian Games 2023 opening ceremony is today, September 23, 2023. Indian men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh and women’s boxer Lovlina Borgohain will be the flag bearers from India’s side. Indian team chief Bhupendra Singh Bajwa told during an interview that after much deliberation, we have decided that this time there will be two flag bearers from India in the Asian Games. Earlier, India’s star javelin thrower athlete Neeraj Chopra had become the flag bearer in the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in the year 2018.

The opening ceremony of the Asian Games 2023 will include Chinese President Xi Jinping as the principal guest, as well as leaders from South Korea, Malaysia, and other countries.

Chenchen, Congcong, and Lianlian, the robots, symbolize the host city’s vibrant culture and heritage. Individually, these modern but cultural robots represent various history landmarks of the host city.

The Asian Games 2023 will feature some of the world’s best athletes. Among the stars on whom all eyes will be included is India’s javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
