Why is Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated?

Shawwal

Adha.

of Eid-ul-Fitr

Eid-ul-Fitr is very special for the Muslim
community. It is a day to thank Allah. Ramadan is the ninth month in the
Islamic lunar calendar. The tenth month is Shawwal. The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr
is observed on the first day of Shawwal all around the world. Shawwal means
‘festival of breaking the fast.’ Namaz is offered first thing in the morning on
this day. After this, eat dates or something sweet. With this, the festival of
harmony and happiness begins. People hug each other and give gifts. All
relatives and friends visit each other’s house. Different types of dishes are
prepared at home.

History
of Eid-ul-Fitr

Eid started in the city of Medina at the time when
Mohammed had come to Medina from Mecca. Mohammad Saheb had prescribed two holy
days for Eid in the Quran. In this way, Eid is celebrated twice a year. Which
is called Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.
